The Ultra seeks expressions of interest from elite runners

The Ultra, a 44 day stage race of 3,000kms from Melbourne to Brisbane is to be held in October and November 2009. It will pass through 146 Australian cities including its capital Canberra, and the world famous Sydney.

The proposed prize money on offer is AUD one million dollars for outright first and a further AUD 1/4 million for stage wins and minor placings down to 5th place.

The race will be televised with daily updates going to air each day, similar to the Tour de France. Race entry will be strictly by way of invitation only. It is envisaged that the field will be limited to only 15 starters. Athletes need to provide their own crews/seconds. The race organisers will provide modern motorhome accommodation.

Expressions of interest are sought from elite international athletes only. They should submit credentials, especially details of recent multi day race performances.

Top marathoners will also be considered.
